The Leh Palace, also known as 'Lhachen Palkhar' is one of the most historically rich edifices that can be found in the country and is located in the breathtakingly beautiful town of Leh.

Consecrated by H.H. the Dalai Lama on 25 July 2010 , this impressive 32 metre (106 foot) statue on top of a hill below the Diskit monastery, facing down the Shyok River towards Pakistan . It lies in the Nubra valley Region of Ladakh It was built for protection of Diskit Village & monastery and for promotion of world peace . The Diskit Monastery was founded by Changzem Tserab Zangpo in the 14th Century and belongs to the Gelugpa (Yellow Hat) sect of Tibetan Buddhism.

These villages are home to Brokpa or Drokpa community of Ladakh. Apart from tourists, these villages are an attraction for anthropologists also. They are known for their blue-colored eyes, fair complexion and an Indo-Aryan look .Brokpas have a custom of marrying only in their own community and this has helped them in keeping their unique features intact but because of the same reason their population has also remained limited, around 2000.

Situated in the village of Mulbekh East of the Town of Kargil , this 9 meters tall statue of Maitreya Buddha was built in the 8th Century AD. After the destruction of Bamiyan Buddhas of Afghanistan this is the Second Oldest & Tallest Rock carved Buddha statue in the world and the only one built according to Buddhist & Shaivaite architecture .
